Any parent that expects to enroll a child (including siblings, new families, and children of staff members) in the Al Fatih Academy Kindergarten in the future, even two years into the future, should read and understand this policy now. If you do not consider your options now, you may not be able to enroll you child later in Al Fatih Academy.

Enrollment Priority for Kindergarten

Because Al Fatih Academy offers part-time Pre-School and PreK options, it is possible that Al Fatih may enroll more than 20 students in each of these two grades. However, currently, there are only 20 spots in the Kindergarten class. These 20 spots will be allocated to the first 20 students that registered and enrolled in the school. Therefore, for example, the first 20 students to register and enroll in Pre-School this year will receive confirmed spots in Kindergarten in two years. Parents who prefer not to enroll their child until Kindergarten may reserve a spot in the Kindergarten by registering through the “Save A Space” plan described below.

Students that register and enroll in Pre-School or PreK but are not among the first 20 (and therefore do not have a confirmed spot in Kindergarten) will automatically and without any additional fee be placed on the waiting list for Kindergarten in order of registration.

Therefore, in filling the Kindergarten, priority will be given in the following order:

• The first 20 children to register for, and enroll in, Pre-School or register through the Save a Space program.
• Children that register and enroll in Pre-School or PreK after the 20 confirmed spots are filled.
• Children that have older siblings that are continuing at the school and children of staff members and do not fit in either group 1 or 2 above.
• Children that were not registered and enrolled for Pre-School or PreK, but are on the waitlist.

Note that if a sibling or a child of a staff member is not among the first 20 students to register for, and enroll in, Pre-School or register through the Save a Space program, such child will not have a confirmed spot in the Kindergarten.

Save a Space Plan

Under the Save a Space plan, you may reserve a spot in the Kindergarten class by paying a yearly fee that is equal to the lowest Pre-School/PreK tuition available ($4000 for the 2009-10 school year). The fee is non-refundable. Because this fee is to reserve a spot, it may not be tax deductible; families should consult a tax professional for advice.

Registration under the Save a Space program will be accepted beginning with the opening of registration for the appropriate Pre-School class for the child and any time after that. Registration forms are available from the School Office. Registrations under the Save a Space plan will be accepted only if the 20 confirmed spots have not already been filled.
